Come Join Us at the Great Sacred Heart Procession in Sacramento!

Schedule:
1:30 pm - Gather at East Lawn Cemetery, 4300 Folsom Blvd. Sacramento, for opening ceremonies
2:15 pm - Procession Begins, carrying the Glorious Statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Pray Mary's Rosary and walk 3.5 miles with the crowds through the streets of Sacramento (closed-off by police)
5:00 pm - Solemn Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament
PLEASE NOTE: After the Mass, please retrieve your car at the cemetery NO LATER THAN 8:00 pm. The cemetery will close and lock the gates at 8:00 pm!

2. When should I arrive at East Lawn Cemetery?
Arrive by 1:30 PM, for time to park, and for announcements and opening ceremonies
3. When is Solemn Mass at the Cathedral?
5:00 PM
4. How can we get back to the Cemetery after Mass at the Cathedral?
Possibilities include —- Shuttle with family or friends
- Take two cars; leave one at the beginning and one at the end
- Take Uber or Lyft
- Take Public Transportation; Light Rail runs very close to the Cathedral and the Cemetery
5. What should we bring?
Walking shoes and your Rosary! Feel free to bring a water bottle for the walk. Water bottles will also be provided by the cemetery.
6. What will be happening during the Procession?
Praying the Rosary and singing hymns.
7. How can I help?
There are considerable costs for police escort and other needs. If you would like to help, please send a check payable to St. Stephen the First Martyr Parish, 5461 – 44th Street, Sacramento, CA 95820. Please indicate it is for the “Sacred Heart Procession” fund. All donations are greatly appreciated!

Yes, we suggest considering organizing a bus with your parish for transportation to and from the event. -

Newly Ordained Fr. Jacob Kasak, FSSP
Of particular note this year, the celebrant for the Mass will be newly-ordained Fr. Jacob Kasak, FSSP. His ordination to the sacred priesthood is on May 29 of this year, and he is looking forward to returning to his home diocese in order to offer Mass for the faithful here. He and his family are long-time parishioners of St. Stephen the First Martyr parish; as a child he spent many years at the Sacramento Cathedral learning to play the organ.
We would love to have you and your parishioners walk in procession and attend Holy Mass with Fr. Kasak!
